In the wake of the Supreme Court's Voting Rights Act ruling, more and more mainstream Democrats seem open to Court reform.
Asked whether recent events had created fresh pressure to redraw, Maryland Governor Wes Moore (D) said “I think so.” It’s the latest tea leaf that the state may be the site of Democratic action. State Sen. Majority Leader Bill Ferguson (D) hasseemed to shift on the issue, and U.S. House Democratic Caucus Chair Pete Aguilar (D-CA) told reporters this week that Maryland has the best chance of redistricting before ’26.
South Carolina, meanwhile, may end up calling a special sessionon redistricting after all, reviving the possibility of Republicans pushing through a gerrymandered map that specifically targets Rep. Jim Clyburn’s (D-SC) district.
